With the Super Mario Bros. film taking the world by storm, you can understand how much little ones would want to bring the imaginary world into their toy box. Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Bowser are household names among Nintendo fans.  I'm sure the saying 'lets a go' has been flung the household at some time in your life. Fun fact for all you enthusiasts out there: Mario's full name is MARIO MARIO whhhhaaatttt, so that makes the green hatted man named LUIGI MARIO, complicated stuff huh. Mario initially appeared in 1981 on the Nintendo classic Donkey Kong; his original name back then was 'Jumpman,' which doesn't have the same ring to it, does it? So we wanted to get into the tremendous Nintendo craze and get our hands on a product that showcased the Mario Bros. universe with all of the characters to fall in love with. We discovered just that with the 48-piece Super Mario Cake décor kit. These miniature figurines would glow like the gold star in anyone's shopping basket, and at such a modest price ranging from £16-£18 on eBay and Amazon.

OUR EXPERIENCE

As a long-time Mario Bros. fan who has dressed up as the icons at costume events, the brand has always had a special place in our hearts. We knew every character in every kingdom after playing every video game, from Super Mario Bros. on the SNES to Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch. We discovered the Super Mario Bros. 48-piece Cake decor kit while browsing eBay and contacted the vendor morningberry, who generously provided us with this product to research further. We have purchased several items from morningberry and can honestly say that their customer service is excellent and that all the items received are of great quality. You can find them on our trusted sellers page. Royal Mail second-class postage was used to deliver the goods, which arrived within three days of purchase. The order arrived properly packaged in four distinct plastic wraps, each holding 12 of the figurines seen above, for a total of 48 pieces. You might be concerned that by purchasing a product that is not directly from the brand, the characters would not look anything like the originals, but we were pleasantly thrilled by how fantastic the miniatures truly looked. With children in the home, we put this to the test to see if they could identify each object, and they were able to name most of them, with the exception of characters they had not yet encountered in the games. The figurines range in size from 1-3cm, making them ideal for a cake decoration or general fun with older children.  The product's quality varies. Yoshi's hand fell off but was swiftly put back together with glue; however, no paint work was ruined throughout a few days of play. Each object's details are flawless. The colours may not be up to high standards, but they are in place. We had a bad experience with non-branded Pokemon cake decors in the past; they just looked awful and most of the pokemon weren't the appropriate colour, but we can assure you that this is not the case with the Mario Bros. set. We did observe that the faces on some of the characters were not the finest mainly Waluigi, but you can still identify the character clearly. The most important element to emphasise is that the Mario franchise will be around for many years to come, which means that these toys will have a long lifespan and may be passed down from generation to generation.

If you like Mario, this is a no-brainer. Not only would they look lovely on your shelf, but I'm sure your children would have a great time utilising their imaginations during playtime to bring the mushroom kingdom to life.
