Our Experience

We were quite intrigued by the Boom Battle Bar experience. Being a karaoke enthusiast and a hardcore gamer, it seemed like the ideal spot to spend an afternoon or evening. We pre-booked a half-hour timeslot for the axe throwing and 45 minutes for the beer/prosecco pong, as we didn't know how busy the venue would be. When we were blown away by everything this establishment had to offer, it had a real gamers paradise vibe. On a Friday at noon, our four-person group arrived at the location to participate in an axe-throwing session we were scheduled for. We were the only people there when we arrived, so we could appreciate everything for what it was. The front desk employees were very friendly and took us to the axe throwing area, where we were greeted by Nate, a staff member who would be our guide throughout the event. Since this was our first time throwing an axe, Nate was fantastic at making us feel comfortable and confident. His demonstrations were of a high standard, which also brought smiles and laughter along the way. No alcohol should be consumed before or during your time slot for this activity, so we would suggest making this your first adventure if you plan to venture into the boom battle bar for a long period of time. Holding an axe in your hand brings a rush of adrenaline; you will truly feel like a Viking. The way the game works is that your party host will demonstrate safe axe throwing techniques before projecting a mini game onto a few chunks of wood in front of you, such as tic-tac-toe or hit the zombies. It was a lot of fun, and for £40 for a half-hour time slot, it was totally worth every penny. Beer/prosecco pong was our next activity. I'm sure many of you have heard of this party phenomenon. The game's rules are straightforward: each team alternates between bouncing a ping pong ball into the opponent's cup, while 10 cups are arranged in a triangular shape on either side of the table. If they are successful, the team member whose cup the ball lands in is required to drink alcohol, often whatever is already in the cup's contents. However, the boom battle bar fills the goals with water, and you are asked to set a time limit or the number of gulps the team is allowed to consume when a ball makes the plunge into the cup. We can only think that the reason behind this is to save money on cups, which may have been brought into effect when COVID-19 hit. You are given either a single bottle of prosseco or a two-pint jug of the cheapest lager, and you are expected to purchase the other beverages. As the game costs £30, we claim that it should be free to be more appealing, as the brand would profit from every alcoholic beverage purchased behind the counter. In order to continue the party after the events and while the alcohol was flowing, we had to reserve a karaoke room. The cost is as follows: for a 60-minute time slot before 6 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday, it is £6 per person, and after 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, it is £9 per person. For a better party experience and much more alcohol consumed for confidence, our group decides to spend the extra and reserve the room after 8 o'clock. When we returned later that evening, It's important to emphasize how fantastic these karaoke rooms are—they felt like VIP treatment. The bartender would bring you a beverage whenever you requested one. Even after we left the room for the restroom, you couldn't hear what was happening inside because of the soundproof walls. The high-quality microphone was an added bonus; you wouldn't find one like it in bars or clubs where you could sing along to Sweet Caroline. It was the ideal complement to the room's acoustics. Although we were not able to take advantage of the ar darts and pool table, we have no doubts that these well-loved games will bring joy to whoever comes their way. However,  the price seems pretty high for these activities, so be prepared to fork out £12 for an hour of pool or £40 for an hour of ar darts.
