The Steak And Omelette Restaurant Review, Plymouth, Taste The Unreal

The Steak and Omelette was awarded ‘The best family restaurant’ in 2016 so we were keen to test it’s standards. Now 56 years old and counting this establishment just gets stronger. Boasting the Finest Scottish Steaks, top quality Local Lamb, chicken and Fresh Fish all cooked to perfection in the open to view kitchen. Is this the real deal when it comes to steak houses. With meats being delivered weekly from Scotland extensive vegan options, this family-run business has thought of everything.

Hours of operation include 11.30am till 9pm Monday to Saturday with an early 6pm finish on Sunday the steak and omelette caters for all meal times.

Above all they tick all the boxes when it comes to location being smack bang in the middle of the city centre so you as a visitor will have no trouble finding the place.

OUR EXPERIENCE

We were welcomed into the venue on a Tuesday evening with no booking required we were able to just take a seat. This may be a different case on the weekend for a restaurant of this profile. The waiter was outstanding, laughing and  joke with us at the door which is just what was needed on a cold wet Tuesday night. We were ushered to our seats in a fashionable manner and brought the drinks and feast menu promptly.

The inside of the restaurant was adequately lit with soothing background music to set the mood. Most seating was in a booth with L shape leather Benches accompanied by 2 Desk chairs again with leather bottom pads. So the comfort was a tick ✅ aswell as the friendly greeting.

As you can see the prices are in line with what you would expect to be paying. For our table we oopted for the honey chorizo, sirloin steak and a chicken burger. I originally requested the homemade steak burger which to my dismay was unavailable because the meat grinder was out of order WHAT!!!!. So we Powered on like a trooper and opted for the sirloin steak. First to arrive at the table was the honey chorizo and OMG this was a treat. I can personally say I’m not a fan of honey but a huge fan of chorizo so this was a gamble which paid off. It just melted in your mouth my taste buds felt like they were having a party.

Next up the steak which was 2nd choice on my options. Still feeling gutted about not having a burger in my chops I was upset until I took that first bite of this meaty dish. Wow just wow the steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare) so tender, so rich in flavour I was amazed. There I was not giving this a fair shot because I had my heart set on 'meat in a bun' when all along this goldmine was on the menu.
